Cross River State government has in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, commenced the recruitment process of not less than 3,000 young persons into the state Homeland Security Service.
As a way of providing job for the unemployed and reduction of redundancy in the state, Ayade in August announced his intention to appoint another 300 political office holders to the over 800 political aides assisting him in running his government.
The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ben Ayade on Media, Mr. Christian Ita yesterday issued a statement in Calabar that an applicant must be at least 6ft tall and a holder of a university degree or a Higher National Diploma, HND, to be eligible for enlistment into the outfit.
The Cross River State Homeland Security was recently established after Governor Ayade signed into law, a bill passed by the State House of Assembly for its establishment.
A non-arm bearing organization, the key function of the Cross River State Homeland Security is information gathering, which is expected to ensure a more effective policing of the state by the Nigerian Police Force.
The state government has already purchased hundreds of Kia sedan cars fitted with state-of-the art communication gadgets in preparation for the official inauguration of the service.
